Founded in 1994, The Salem Education Foundation (SEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting community involvement and investment in the public schools of Salem, Mass.

The only vehicle for private sector investment in public education in Salem, SEF promotes innovation at the classroom level by awarding competitively selected micro-grants to teachers with projects in the areas of sciences, math, the arts and humanities.

In November, SEF published Salem's first bilingual newspaper. Articles in the Salem Evening News , the Boston Globe, and Primer Momento made note of the historic event. SEF's official press release is attached.

Providing information about our schools in multiple languages is a great way to engage members of the community to get involved in local education. In order to help ELLs succeed, we need to find more ways to get families invested in what's happening in schools.
